HKSFPA Rallies Members to Donate HK$88,000 to Support Victims of Tai Po’s Wang Fuk Court Disaster
(Hong Kong, November 30, 2025) — Recently, a Level 5 fire broke out at Tai Po’s Wang Fuk Court, resulting in severe casualties and property loss, touching the hearts of people across Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Securities & Futures Professionals Association (the "Association") is deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident, offering its deepest condolences to the victims and sincere sympathies to the bereaved families and injured residents.
While disasters are ruthless, compassion prevails. As a financial industry union rooted in Hong Kong, the Association remains committed to the community. In response to the sudden disaster, the Association swiftly mobilized industry support, announcing a total donation of HK$88,313. This contribution exemplifies the industry's spirit of solidarity and mutual aid, coming from three sources:
• Direct Allocation: The Association allocated HK$20,000 directly as a gesture of support;
• Corporate Generosity: Sponsoring organizations of the Association's annual events responded to the call, generously donating HK$20,000;
• Members’ Fundraising: Members and industry partners demonstrated community spirit, enthusiastically contributing HK$48,313 during the Association's events.
Mr. Mofiz Chan, Chairman of the Hong Kong Securities & Futures Professionals Association, stated: "The severe incident at Tai Po’s Wang Fuk Court has devastated many families. As part of the Hong Kong community, we empathize deeply. The enthusiastic response to this fundraising reflects the spirit of unity between the industry and the public. We hope this gesture can provide tangible support to affected families, allowing them to feel the warmth and support from all sectors of society as they rebuild their homes."
The Association has arranged to transfer the entire donation to the " Support Fund for Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po " established by the Hong Kong SAR Government, to coordinate the distribution to needy victims, supporting their immediate post-disaster living needs and reconstruction efforts.
The Association also takes this opportunity to express the highest respect to all firefighters, paramedics, and medical staff who bravely and tirelessly work on the disaster frontline. May the deceased rest in peace, the injured recover soon, and the affected residents quickly emerge from the shadows to resume stable lives.
