Hong Kong Securities and Futures Professionals Association Meets with Federation of Industry and Commerce of Nansha District, Guangzhou

Today (March 27, 2025), a delegation led by Mr. Luo Jianzhong, Party Secretary of the Federation of Industry and Commerce of Nansha District, Guangzhou (“NFIC”), visited the Central Secretariat of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Professionals Association (hereinafter referred to as “HKSFPA”). The delegation engaged in discussions with Mr. Mofiz Chan, Chairman of HKSFPA, and its executive team. The meeting focused on the Overall Plan for Deepening Comprehensive Global Cooperation Between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Nansha, Guangzhou (referred to as the “Nansha Plan”), exploring avenues to deepen regional financial collaboration, promote market connectivity in the Greater Bay Area, and identify new cooperative opportunities.

Focusing on the Nansha Plan to Jointly Promote Greater Bay Area Financial Collaboration

During the talks, both parties acknowledged the strategic significance of the Nansha Plan for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Nansha, as a core hub of the Greater Bay Area, is actively building an open platform with global reach, while Hong Kong, as an international financial center, holds unique advantages in capital markets, professional services, and cross-border financial innovation. Key consensus areas included:

1. Financial Market Connectivity: Exploring ways to expand cross-border financial products and services to help Nansha enterprises access international capital markets.
2. Professional Talent Development: Promoting mutual recognition of qualifications and exchange programs for financial practitioners to build a shared talent pool.
3. Innovation Pilot Collaboration: Supporting Nansha’s pioneering initiatives in green finance, fintech, and other fields, leveraging Hong Kong’s international expertise for synergistic growth.

Deepening Cooperation Prospects

The meeting laid the groundwork for future collaboration. HKSFPA and NFIC plan to establish regular communication mechanisms and jointly host thematic seminars within the year, focusing on cross-border investment, financing, and risk management to further advance cooperative initiatives.
