Release Date: 2024-04-19

The "High-End Talent Pass Scheme" has been in effect since the end of 2022, for over a year now. According to government data released, the program received over 72,000 applications as of February this year, with nearly 59,000 approved and about 44,000 individuals arriving in Hong Kong. Including other talent admission schemes, around 108,000 people have arrived in Hong Kong from last year to the present.

To further gather opinions from various industry unions within the system regarding the program, the Hong Kong Clerical and Professional Employees General Union, in conjunction with Legislative Council member Hon. Kwok Wai-keung Aaron, invited representatives from various unions within the cultural and creative system, including the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Professionals Association, to a seminar on April 17. The aim was to discuss the potential impact of the program on local practitioners, enabling the federation to convey opinions to government authorities and protect industry rights. During the meeting, union representatives expressed concerns and opinions from their respective industries about the program, hoping the government will strengthen regulation and monitoring mechanisms in the future.
