Mr. Wilfred Yiu's Retirement Announcement
Mr. Wilfred Yiu, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Co-Chief Operating Officer & Co-Head of Markets at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, has chosen to retire at the end of December this year at the age of just 54. The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Professionals Association extends heartfelt congratulations on Mr. Yiu's timely decision.
The Association believes that although Mr. Yiu has only served at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange for about six years, he has brought significant new developments to the Hong Kong financial market during this brief period. Mr. Yiu has also broken free from the previous constraints of the Exchange, promoting several "innovative" measures that have left a "profound" impression on the market. Notably, despite various external pressures, he has persisted in successfully implementing the "severe weather trading" initiative, which has proven to be immensely beneficial for daily trading volumes in Hong Kong stocks during severe weather conditions.
We sincerely wish Mr. Yiu the best in finding new journeys after retirement. We firmly believe that on the solid foundation he has established during his tenure, the Hong Kong financial market will continue to thrive and reach new heights.
